I’ve been a little neglectful of this little blog recently, there are a few reasons for it, one is that I’ve been really busy with my book blog which has taken off like a beautiful bird and I’ve been basically consumed with making sure that everything that needs to happen with it does. I’ve now got a good system with managing the content for it so it isn’t such a difficult job to get content out for it.
The other reason I’ve not been posting so much here is I feel like I’ve been repeating myself rather a lot and I don’t want to be doing that. I know this is a mental health blog primarily and I know that the things I have to say around my mental health are going to be primarily the same but I want to add value to those things so I sit here trying to think “what can I say that will be different” add to that I promised myself to be a more positive person this year and well, yeah! I’m also writing a book, putting it all down in it’s rawest form and that’s really draining me leaving little room for blog posts on the subject aswell. Whether that book will ever make it into public hands I have no idea but writing it is kind of cathartic.
So, I am creating some regular features, they will start over the next month or two but will require input and ideas from you to be the best that they can be. Here are my suggestions…
Boxed Up – A monthly feature highlighting one of the many subscription boxes out there. These boxes can be great for mental wellbeing, a gift in the post each month whether you buy it for yourself or it’s gifted to you what better way to give yourself a boost than a box full of things targeted at making you feel great. From pampering to geeky toys there are boxes for everyone’s tastes and I’m looking to delve into everything that’s out there and talk to the people behind them and how they thing their boxes could help someone struggling with mental health. Do you know a box I should approach for this feature let me know!
Brainy Books – There are masses of books being released every month if not week on the subject of mental health, from self-help to memoirs. Each month I will review a new release as well as interviewing the author or providing some unique content such as a guest post or an extract from the book. Something to give you a taste of what the book holds to help you decide if this is a book for you. I’d love to have some guest reviewers for this feature, if you would like to get involved let me know!
My Story – You will have seen over the months I’ve had some wonderful stories from Guest Bloggers. I want to make this a regular thing. Once a month I want to have a story from another guest blogger talking about their experiences with mental illness. It doesn’t have to be anything massively traumatic, we all have stories which are deeply moving and sharing them takes a huge amount of courage, and your story can help a massive number of people without you realising. If you would like to share your story please drop me a line.
I’d like to do a fourth feature but I’m stuck on the subject at the moment, I have a few ideas but nothing I see having any longevity. If you have any ideas feel free to pop them in the comments but the last one may have to wait a while! This lot is quite a lot to get going with for now anyway!
I look forward to hearing your thoughts for now.
Also, as an aside, and I will write more about this in a future post but I’m walking 10miles for Walking Out Of Darkness at the end of June and fundraising for Bipolar UK. If you can spare anything there is a button/text to donate info in my sidebar. Much Love.
